Talk:The Cabot Financial Group of Companies

From Consumer Wiki

Cabot Financial - Do they have a monopoly on the name?

At the time of writing, Cabot Financial have only one registered trademark:

Cabot Financial (Europe) Limited have registered the trademark, "Credit where it's due."

No other company within the group appears to have registered any other trademark, or otherwise indicated officially their intellectual property rights in the name "Cabot Financial"

What I would like to see discussed here is, does the mere fact that they have been trading under that name for several years, and have built a reputation and "goodwill" (although the author personally has difficulty reconciling himself to using Cabot and Goodwill in the same context) around that name entitle them to object to a third party using "cabotfinancial" in an internet domain name?

Especially considering that an American Company, Cabot Financial of Beverly, MA has registered a domain name since 1999, at: http://www.cabotfinancial.net
